Fire in PHV Follow up!

Well here is a link of an article that I found about the fire in the back of our building.
http://www.bw.eur.army.mil/news/archivepages09/July/23July2009-Fire_on_PHV.html

I never saw anything else since, and believe me I tried to find out if they were talking about that “Frantic woman” crying Fire (that would be me if you didn’t know).
This pictures is a little old, but... other than the trash on the ground, it STILL look like that from my dinning room window! Lovely he?

And no, I didn’t find anything about her or the fire. We did saw a TV crew coming in the backyard early this week, so I also try to find it on the AFN network. NOTHING so far… I guess they still don’t know what the heck happen that caused it!
I sure would like to know, and not just because it is something to blog about. I’d rather know if I need to move out of those building before my stuff arrive than being caught in a fire because something is wrong with the wire.
SO I guess more follow-up later! ;-)

FIRE!!!!

OMG!!! My heart is ready to explode; my lungs are ready to burst out!!
I was just typing along this evening, in a nice quiet night. All the kids were asleep and hubby just went back to bed after a drink of water and a kiss goodnight. So I was just minding my own business trying to share my pictures with you all! And suddenly an unexpected smell tickled my nose. I was thinking!? Hmmm!! Who is making a bonfire at such a late time at night?? Looked out, and saw some pretty cool flame!! Sweet!! Then I register! WTH?? Bonfire isn’t supposed to get that high?? Looked again: 2sd floor of the opposite back building was on fire. ORANGE FLAMES fire!! OMG! I grabbed my phone!!
Call 911!! WTH is 911 in Germany? Ran out to the first available staircase in front of our building. LOCKED!!! Ranged all the doorbell and started screaming FIRE FIRE!!!! Call 911!! I don’t have a phone!! WAKE UP!!! 911 call 911!!!!
OMG, then I ran to the building on fire under the window on fire 2nd floor, I knock on the window of the first floor and screamed, FIRE WAKE UP GET OUT!!!!

Ran to the front of the building to try to get in. people are out!! Or so we thought. We get close to the door, and the first floor neighbor is trying to get the third floor neighbor out. The SMOKE is amazingly BLACK! Matt and one of the neighbor in our building try to get up to wake them up… too much smoke come down again, and finally we saw the father from the third floor pocked his head out. Took his entire family of 5 kids plus wife to the opposite window and waited until the fire department showed up. Then the big truck with the ladder came and took them down. When I went to get the kids out of the basket, I took a little girl in my harm and she was shaking so hard, I almost cried with her. They all came out alright! God was with them tonight. And THANK to all the fire department it is now out. Just another big scare and some family that lost everything!
So pumped up, can’t sleep now!! OMG!! I can’t believe I just did that!! It is like running from the law or something. (Like I know how it feels right?) So this is the reason why my heart is about to get out and my lungs feel like I smoke 3 pack of cigarette nonstop! I can’t believe that!

De blog

disclamer: those pictures aren't pictures of the actual fire, I just found them online and wanted to show how sick it kinda looked. I lost my reporter aptitude with my running around screaming! ;-)

To Do List

So those lists started appearing in the corner of my brain (what corner might have asked yourself? I have no idea; I didn’t even know I had corners in there)
To do list (Wednesday list):
• Rafael’s and Morgane’s Passport (expedited: it means more money to pay for those of you who always have time to have their passport 6 months before your trip start)
• Military ID for Morgane, Damien and Me (I do need to go to the Rock Island Arsenal for that one)
• Sort stuff for unaccompanied luggage (Friday)
• Find someone that will deal with the bike (battery/gas and oil wise)
• Call Car shipping company (Transcar. Oh, they are in Germany, mind the time difference)
• Call bank so that Matt can use is Debit/Credit card in Europe (if you don’t do that you will end up with a piece of plastic that has no monetary value whatsoever.)
• Find a cheap airfare for me and the kids (after the move and craziness is finished)
• Find a rental car to pickup after I drop off the van in St Louis (where the transportation/shipping/whatever name they go by is located)
• Call Toyota Financial to get paperwork that authorize us to ship our van in another country (Matt had a friend who faxed them the orders so that one should be easy)
• Sort house Trash/Keep/Give
• Shoot myself (make sure that my life insurance will take care of all the kids and Matt since I will be dead!)
• Talking about Insurance, call them to make sure we have renter insurance, shipping insurance, landlord insurance and whatnot!
• Find a renter if I want to become a landlord (I really don’t care about becoming one, but what am I do with an empty house for X numbers of years?)
• Find adopting family for the dog and the cat.
• Clean house
• Make a doctor appointment for me and the kids, last checkup (get the medical records)
• Do Laundry
• Take the entire Giveaway pile to the Four Oaks shelter and the Goodwill.
Let’s just say that by the evening time while I was chatting with my mother on Skype. She realized that I was WAY over my head (wait, I don’t have head no more, it is full of “to do list”) and probably because she is my mother, she worried and volunteered to come and help me! So the same evening I booked flight to Chicago (Direct, Paris Chicago, she can’t stand the stress of have to change plane in weird foreign airplane where they don’t speak French) She is coming to save me!! Whoohoo!! I might have some of my sanity left in me after the move!
To do list (Wednesday list revision):
• All of the above +
• Pick up Mutti in Chicago 10 days from now
• Do another Garage sale to minimize the giveaway pile
On the 23rd my mother arrived. I use the fact that I was driving to Chicago and passing the Quad City area to get the military ID card done! (Well of course it wasn’t very nice to do, since apparently the office was “half closed” and you needed an appointment to get one done! WTH, since when do you need an appointment to get an ID card? Well I pushed my luck and knocked on the door. With my happy face, and polite way and 3 kids behind I told them that we were moving in a few weeks and that we lived 1 hour away! “Well then, I guess I will HAVE to get those done he?” (Grumpy old woman who didn’t want to do shit all day I guess) :0? OH, well thank you so much! (Me biting my tongue and getting thicker in my accent as the second pass by!) 30 minutes and we are out... Whohooo, we have new card (valid one) well of course I look like a convict, but the lady didn’t want to redo any of the pictures, her time was so precious you know! So I didn’t want to change my luck and get kicked out of the office with no card.
In the space of 4 days since my mother arrived, we have sorted, emptied, cleaned, vacuumed etc… my house even though it is still a mess because of all the furniture that aren’t there no more. But it does look like a organized mess!
Of course my “Toyota” papers aren’t there yet! So I need to take precious time that I don’t have to call them back.
Me: “I was wanted to know if our application to ship our van out of the country has been received/and that you have agreed for us to do so?”
Them:” hold on the line, I’ll go check!”
Music……. Lalala lalala lalala lalala
Them:”We have a trace that you call, but we never received the orders!”
Me:” WHAT? (Matt was supposed to take care of that, or was it one of his buddies from work! Raaaahhh!!) OK what is your fax number?”
So I had to run to my old employer, ask if I could use the fax (Thanks Steve to let me use it) and off it went. Call Toyota back to make sure they got it, YES they got it!!
Next day, approved, they are sending the letter! Pfuffff!! And check!! Ok the bad part is that they said it was coming on Tuesday and that on Saturday it was still not in my mailbox!! Stressing again!!! Something else to add on my “to do list”.
To do list (Saturday list):
• All of the above minus what was checked and +
• Call Toyota to B..ch again
• Go to the doctor ask for “black market” Prozac in a 1 kg bag so that I can seat in my bed at night and eat them like bonbon.
Went to the land field: 2 Vans full with crap = $17 (normally when I go with one van not too full it is only like $5. AH AH! Here is my Carbon Footprint going up the roof. I do apologize to all the mankind and my great great grand children who will never see the sunset because of me! I really am sorry!
Oh and while I was loading the vans with the trash on Saturday morning (with my sister in law and husband who came all the way from Omaha to help out (well not really but they did help a lot) my mother HIT her head in the garage door that wasn’t completely open slip on her “French derriere” and twisted her ankle while she was down or on her way down.
To do list (Saturday list revision):
• All of the above minus what was checked and +
• Go to the Emergency room to make sure my mother doesn’t need a plaster on her foot and won’t go in a coma of some kind while I need to be there to make sure the movers are doing what they are paid to do!
SHOOT ME PLEASE SHOOT ME!!!!!

Saturday June 27th.

27 days ago, Matt got his OK from Heidelberg! (About time) with Orders in hands he got home and prepared himself to stay and help to prepare for the move!
A few days later we got an email saying that the household shipment for his type of orders weren’t to exceed 1000lb (AH!! Oh yeah, you can count on that buddy!!) (By the by, the plan for those of you who might not know is that since the orders weren’t going to sponsors the kids and I, we were going to end up paying for us to fly over there, and for our van to be shipped over there as well!) Needless to say that I almost BROKE down (and when I break down, it isn’t me, it could be word flying at the wall or Matt for that matter instead of plates!)
After a lot of email/phone call (Sobbing, heartbeat racing up and HB pressure going Berserk) we got the “amendment” saying that they would ship the ENTIRE household good (well 14000lb at least) but no car! CRAP!!! Oh well, at least I don’t have to part with my “Crap” booking supply! (That was a close one) ;0)
Matt report date was the 15th of June in Heidelberg Germany! On the 13th I was to have a Garage Sale to try to thin down the weight of household crap (yeah I need a thin down on myself, but no time for that right now!) and on the 14th Matt was suppose to fly from CDI. Needless to say that with the ARMY we came to the conclusion that we are just to be patient, after all the ARMY is made of Human and Error do get made (sometime) ;0) Well on Friday the 12th Matt got a call from Travel agency SATO and they say: “Well we can’t confirm the ticket cause you are missing this “???” number that authorize you to fly on Government money!”
OMG!!! You gotta be kidding me (WHAT?? Do you want us to pay for that one too?)
To tell you the truth, I really was thinking to myself ( I doubt I told Matt that, but then, I did lose recollection of the events) “Well then, it is a sign, we shouldn’t be going anywhere. First they don’t want to pay for the stuff to be shipped, then for us to be shipped, then what else could happen!”
Going back to my story (sorry about the carrying away here) Matt couldn’t leave on the 14th, so he stayed home waiting for those code number/authorizing him to come! On Wednesday the 17th for once in a long time, I slept a little longer. I get downstairs and Matt has a HUGE smile on his face!!
Me: “..Morning!”
Matt: “We got the authorization!”
Me: “hmmm!!! Yawning!! That’s good!!”
Matt: “I’ll call SATO travel!”
Me: “hmm!! OK!! (Where is my coke, need caffeine!!?)
I get to the basement to check my mail on the computer Still HALF asleep! Matt follows me some minutes after!
Matt: “Do you think I can make it for the 4pm flight?”
Me: “Don’t know, are you ready? (Still in the fog here)”
Smarty Army pants Matt: “Always” (you know military <<>>
Me: “then I guess you can do that!”
Matt to the phone: “Ok then you can go ahead!!”
OMG!!! What the… was I thinking?? (Oh, wait I wasn’t thinking cause I was STILL in the FOG of dreamland!!)
Then he got the ticket and the Trauma Drama started!! Need this and that!!
Matt: “I need to get the battery out of the bike, and the oil and gasoline, so that they can ship it with no issue!”
Me: “Why don’t you take it to airport for a last spine, get your luggage check out and this way you will have less gasoline in it to get out!” (Doesn’t it sound logical?) WTH?? Did I actually say that?? Again, What was I thinking? (Did I mention it is by then 11am and that his plane leave at 4pm?)
So off he goes on his “Baby” to drop of his luggage and a few gallons of gasoline! Well by the time he is back, he only has 45mn before he need to be at the airport to pass the security and stay there just for the purpose of waiting for the plane to arrive. (Did I mention that the airport is about 20mn away (and that is driving like a French woman who is dropping off her husband to get his flight on time?) OH OH!! And the bike hasn’t been taken care of!!
So the question of the day is: Do you think the bike got the battery, the oil and the gasoline taken out before Matt left??
Answer: You’ll have to read the other post following that one to order to know! He He!!
So off we go to the airport!! Mad French woman driving up the road with load of kids and a husband happy as can be (the husband that is!)
Dropped off the “happy as can be” Husband who even though is sad to let us go, or should I say go, he is still deep down happy as can be, ready for the “be all that you can be” motto and with a big smile on his face! He looked so excited for whatever reason!
I, on the other hand, felt the pressure starting building up as I was driving back home.
OH and…. To Do List started appearing in the corner of my brain.

What a pain!

So, as I already knew it, being an Army Wife is always about, being supportive of your husband. Being patient about the rule and regulations, etc… I will however have to say that I am getting SICK and TIRED about the whole rule and regulation. AS most of you know, Matt is reservist, we have been waiting and waiting for his orders to Heidelberg for over 6 months (OVER way OVER) and it finally came, and on the orders that say that it is an “unaccompanied” mission. It says however that they will PCS him. PCS is “Permanent Change of Station” for those of you who don’t know! Well, yesterday we found out that “Uncle Sam” will not move ALL of the household, it only “authorize” 25%! WTH??? What is 25% of our stuff going to do to us? Oh let me think, should I ship 1 or 2 pots to cook with? Should I take 1 or 2 towels for us to dry ourselves when we shower?? I am so pissed off right now (did you realize that yet?) ;0)
So now, he needs to go while I wait for him to have authorization from the “proper” people, then they might or might not say “Go ahead”!! So, needless to say that his dates are to be reporting by mid-June, I don’t think I will be moving until the end of June or something. Since we have to have the “authorization” for Pete’s sake!
So if by any chance your name is “Mrs Michelle Obama”, please talk to my husband’s sponsors duty blablabla… and if you could let them know that he HAS to have his family with him, it will be GREATLY appreciated! OH and if the household items could follow too, that will even be better! Thanks a bunch! ;0)
I will keep on smiling and try not to forget to take my happy pill tomorrow!

Heidelberg update:

So this morning, after Matt dropped off the kids at school, he checked his mail and …
MIRACLE: it is FINNALY here in the mailbox. HIS orders. Jeeeesh one cannot say that we have been waiting for those for a LONG time! So it said, as he has to be reporting on the 15th of June!! Yeah you read it right, the 15!!! WTH!!! Can one have a little more time on their hand to prepare for such a move then just 14 days…? I swear I am starting to really not be happy about it. OK, I shouldn’t say that, after all, I am super happy at the idea of moving there. Even if it is only for a year, I can imagine all the stuff that we are going to be able to show the kids. Castles and trips to area that we wouldn’t be able to see if we were stuck here, but still… 15 days??? Anyway… So Germany, here we come. Heidelberg, here we come, and Mutti… Here we come (Mutti is my mother by the by!)
Kids are in school so they don’t “officially” know. While we are calling around to do all the good stuff that we have to do, transportation office for the move. Car moving services for fees (cause of course they don’t move the POV (personal car) for less than 1 year mission) we can ask after 6 months for extension of the orders and then get them to agree to ship the car, but of course, not before! OH, I love those order so much!! ;0)
So as I was saying we are one the phone and suddenly my cell phone/AKA/electronic brain is ringing to remind me that Rafael has a dentist appointment. (While I am on the phone.) GREAT!! So I tell Matt… GO pick up your son and go!! OK! Here he goes. And then... He text me: “please tell me it is just a check up?” AH AH!! Nope!!! It isn’t… it is for some nice treatment, he will be under laughing gas and he won’t be laughing at all! He is so freaked by the dentist that I am sure he was giving him misguiding direction for his dad never to get to the dentist office! ;0) So… needless to say that I am wondering what is going on with those 2 men, over at the dentist office! I would love to be a little mouse and watch! Sorry… I shouldn’t be saying that, but it will be the first time that he drag his youngest to the place that Rafael HATE the most!
So, anyway… As you saw, we are heading to Germany, which was the main event of the day; we are off course going to need to get that Garage sale going. I will call the newspaper after I am done with this entry and tell them to print something. OH and it is supposed to be RAINING on the Saturday of the Garage sale!!! NO!!!!! Please!!! No more rain!
Wish me LUCK, and if you are thinking that you have a few days to help me with packing organizing selling, please let me know! ;-) I think I will have to swallow a bag of Prozac by the end of the day! ;0)
See you later with more info!

HAPPY "bad" mother's day!!

So I was watching the “Sunday Morning” show this afternoon (I have to record it or I wouldn’t be able to watch all of it and also skip the advertisement…) ;-)
And they had a wonderful story about “bad Mothers” … Now I am a PROUD one myself, so I had to share with you the link:

http://www.truuconfessions.com/

something else that I was wanted to share with you is the following email that I got from a good friend of mine (a mother too):

MOTHERS Real Mothers don't eat quiche; They don't have time to make it.
Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils Are probably in the sandbox.
Real Mothers often have sticky floors, Filthy ovens and happy kids.
Real Mothers know that dried play dough Doesn't come out of carpets.
Real Mothers don't want to know what The vacuum just sucked up.
Real Mothers sometimes ask 'Why me?' And get their answer when a little Voice says, 'Because I love you best.'
Real Mothers know that a child's growth Is not measured by height or years or grade.... It is marked by the progression of Mommy to Mom to Mother...

The Images of Mother 4 YEARS OF AGE - My Mommy can do anything!
8 YEARS OF AGE - My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother doesn't really know quite everything.
14 YEARS OF AGE - Naturally, Mother doesn't know that, either.
16 YEARS OF AGE - Mother? She's hopelessly old-fashioned.
18 YEARS OF AGE - That old woman? She's way out of date!
25 YEARS OF AGE - Well, she might know a little bit about it!
35 YEARS OF AGE - Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.
45 YEARS OF AGE - Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?
65 YEARS OF AGE - Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, Because that is the doorway to her heart, The place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, But true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she Shows, and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!

KARMA KARMA!!!

So this morning, Christmas morning, I got up got cleaned up and spend my few minutes left at home before going to work (yes, I was schedule to work on Christmas day, and YES it did SUCK), anyway… I spend my few last minutes watching my kids opening their gift with OHs and Ahs! What a joy to see those Hooray& "I love it" moments.
And of course Rafael who asked for a “real” camera (and got it) toss the box at me because it wasn’t a REAL one!?? What, It is too?? No it isn’t! Well sure, get me some battery!! NO you ARE LYING!! You are!!! ;-( big tears going down the cheeks. So I showed him that it was a real one and everything was great afterthat! Pffff!!!
So, I am off to work, already kinda running late with no minutes to spare. Go to the garage, open the garage. Go grab the key of the “new” minivan!! No keys?? WTH?? Where are the keys?
-Don’t know answered Matt. I thought you had them in your purse!
-No I never put them in my purse I always hang them on the hook, cause this way it is easier to go!!
-I don’t know then. Let me check my pockets!
-Me!!! :-/ RAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!
-No not in my pockets!!!
-Me: 2XRAAAAAHHHHH!!!! Me calling down the stairs to the basement where my kids are enjoying the installation of the new Guitar Hero game!!
-Where the heck did you put the keys of the van?
-Damien: What keys?
-Morgane: ?? Don’t know?? Why??
-Me: RRRRRAHHHHHHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! Fine, I’ll go with the “old” van (who sometime decides not to start specially with the cold weather!
So I go!! I am PISSED… I am like!! What did I do with the keys? I swear I put them on the hook! Where did I put them? I empty my purse arriving at work just for good measure! Nope, no keys!
Lunch time: I drive home, and eat. The "old"van has now a light that say “check engine” in bright red color!! OH CRAP!!! I eat and OH goodie, I found the keys that I lost, and that I apparently had hidden under my daughter’s winter hat and gloves!! Oh yeah!! Bad me!! So I am like!! PISSED of PISSED OFF!!
Get out, get in the van (Cause I am running late AGAIN) and start driving! Well… guess what, I didn’t see the BIG HUGE pile of snow at the corner of my neighbor’s driveway… and I feel a BANG… Sliding and nothing… can’t go nowhere? WTH!!! Got out, checked and off course I did that: (see pictures)
It took us, Matt, John (our neighbor) and I over 45 mn to get the van out!!

Can I say triple RRRRAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Matt says it was my Karma trying to get me!!!!
So tonight I need to relax and just think positive thoughts!
And a MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS TO ME!!!

SHAME SHAME SHAME part2

I am sure some of you are wondering how my cleaning is going, well …
Not so good!
I have tried, and I won’t show pictures since there isn’t a lot of moving going on. I did empty part of my CDs collection that we haven’t used since forever, so at least one full “pillow” box which was full or half full of empty game boxes, is now completely full with game boxes and other CDs that I put in. So this is one step closer to the emptiness of my office.
However, the rest isn’t going too well.
I do have excuses (I am very good at finding excuses, you shall see if it is worse or not) 2 weeks ago when I put up that entry, I didn’t know that I would have an interview a few days later that ended up in with me being hire. So I am now proud employee of a local Nursing home where I am the “PT Assistant Director of Activities” but I am not proud to say that I haven’t done what I was wanted to do before the end of the month. There is always something coming up. I am part time, but I still work 3 days a week, and some weekends and holiday, since Nursing home is after all 24/7/352 so I haven’t been home in a while. I guess you could have guessed that since I haven’t posted for a while.
Anyway… so that is my excuse and believe me I am disappointed with myself. I guess my next day off will see me trying to keep up with the house chores and the organization of my office, and maybe a little sleep. I have forgotten how sleepy one gets by being on one’s feet all day! ;-) But I am happy. I love working with people, and if you really ignore the “urine” smell that you have in the morning. It is pretty fun. I think I am going to like it. I don’t know how difficult it is going to be for me when Matt is half way around the globe, but… I guess there are plenty of women who deal with being the “single” mother, so I am well not: prepare, but aware of the difficulty. I was looking for a seasonal job for at least helping with the Xmas shopping and to be able to give my husband a nice gift from ME and not from the money that he make, so I am looking forward receiving my first pay check, it won’t be too much since I just started last week, but it should be enough to pay for some gift. WHOHOO!!!

Organization etc...

So I am in the process of cleaning up and I found some articles that I thought were very interesting and that I will use the main idea to clean up my office and then.. the rest of the house but right now... one step at a time, one step per day! And hopefully I will get the office done by the 21st.
http://www.redbookmag.com/recipes-home/tips-advice/cleaning-organize/how-to-get-organized

you can also go on to : http://www.first30days.com/ and have tips for every aspect of your life!
Very interesting as well. Great tips and you can even dowload or listen to interview with expert.
Love it!!
Go check it out, you might fall in love and find cool stuff that might help you!

More later when I get something done tomorrow or at least I hope I will. ;-)
I hate it when there is a holiday in the week, cause it screw up my entire week, now I don't have 2 weeks of organizing my office I have not even 10 days!! Yacks!!!
